Omar Chávez returns with victory and KO against Muñoz in Tijuana Box Televisa | TUDN Boxing

Omar Chavez triumphantly returned to the ring with a KO over Michel Muñoz in the main event of Box Televisa held at the Municipal Auditorium of Tijuana, Baja California.

The ‘Businessman’ Chávez took just two rounds to finish the fight despite the inactivity on the floor. The knockout came after a clinch in which Michel Muñoz threw his mouthguard and it was at that moment that Omar Chávez connected a short hook to the face of his rival to send him to the canvas.

The moments after the KO victory were dramatic, as it took Muñoz a few minutes to regain consciousness and stand up while he was surrounded by his corner and the venue’s medical staff. Fortunately, the boxer managed to stand up to hear the verdict in favor of Omar Chávez.

“I felt very strong, training hard, to continue progressing because I want to be world champion. We are ready, I am not afraid of anyone,” the youngest son of the Chávez dynasty.

David ‘General’ Cuéllar defeated the Chilean José ‘Pancora’ Velázquez in a 10-round bantamweight fight to keep his dream intact of competing for a World Boxing Council world title.

Cuellar made use of his height and arm advantage in the first round with straight punches to keep ‘Pancora’ at bay. However, the Chilean solidly withstood the best attacks of the ‘General’ and responded with dangerous overhands that shook the betting favorite on more than one occasion.

The fight became complicated for Cuéllar in the third round. The carelessness in defense caused Velázquez to land important power blows that balanced the fight mentally and on the scorecards.

The General reappeared in the final stretch of the fourth round with a series that almost threw Pancora to the canvas, but he managed to survive the bell and the rest of the rounds to decide the fight via scorecards in favor of David Cuéllar. who assured that he will look for the fight against Luis ‘Pantera’ Nery.
