The president of the State Electoral Institute (IEE), Blanca Yassahara Cruz García, called on political parties to show civilityduring the installation of the permanent session of the General Council that will follow up on the election of this June 2, before the acts of violence that were recorded in the days before the elections.

It also required the authorities responsible for governance and public security to guarantee the tranquility of election day in “the exercise of their powers,” so that citizens are able to exercise their right to vote.

Counselor Marisol Martínez Gorbea pointed out that the IEE has been the subject of “harsh criticism and questioning” for “problems and errors” that, “in many cases, are well-focused social conflicts or are related to the escalation of violence.” that is lived in the country.

“The solution to these issues is not the responsibility of the electoral authorities and they are not synonymous with the fact that our electoral system does not work. It is true that it is necessary to reform it so that it is in line with the new social and political reality of our country, that is, we must oil our electoral machine, but not throw it away,” Martínez highlighted.
