Sunshine Stars head coach Kennedy Boboye is optimistic that the Owena Waves will retain their top-flight status at the end of the season.
Akure club increased their chances of remaining in the Nigerian Premier Football League thanks to a 2-0 away win against Gombe United on Sunday.
Promise Awosanmi and Lucky Nwafor were Sunshine Stars’ scorers in the game.
The Owena Waves moved to 14th position in the table after the victory.

“I’m glad we got the points we so badly needed in Gombe,” Boboye said in a post-match interview.
“It is a result that we so desired and I am glad to have achieved it. Gombe United are not a bad team at all, but that’s football for you.
“We will keep pushing until the end of the season.”
Sunshine Stars will now turn their attention to Wednesday’s Federation President Cup quarter-final clash against Kano Pillars.
