WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris shared on Tuesday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” how she learned of former President Donald Trump’s guilty plea to 34 felony counts in his criminal trial over hush money from a porn actress.

Harris deflected a joking question from Kimmel about whether the people he watched the verdict with were “pretending to be unhappy” when the conviction was announced. Instead, she talked about the six-week deliberations and the 12-member jury, before adding that “the reality is that cheaters don’t like to get caught.”

Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, was found guilty on all charges related to a scheme during his 2016 presidential campaign to bribe porn actress Stormy Daniels, who he claimed they had sex with. The former president criticized the verdict as politically motivated and has blamed Biden, while seeking to become a political martyr in the eyes of his supporters, suggesting that if this can happen to him, similar things could happen to them.

Harris’ comments came a day after President Joe Biden lashed out at his predecessor and likely opponent in the November election for sowing doubt in the judicial process.

“It is reckless, dangerous and downright irresponsible for anyone to say (the election process) is rigged just because they don’t like the verdict,” Biden said at a fundraising event in Greenwich, Connecticut, on Monday night.
