Nobody had Dairon Asprilla on the list of candidates for Atlético Nacional’s signings. The forward’s name surprised this Wednesday, June 5, on social networks, as well-known journalists revealed that hiring him is a real option and he would be very close to closing.
Asprilla, 32 years old, has been playing for the Portland Timbers for 7 years, in the MLS of the United States, and would be on the starting platform, something that would facilitate his return to Colombian soccer, where he played for Alianza Petrolera and Millonarios.
Dairon Estibens Asprilla Rivas was born in Istmina, Chochó, on May 25, 1992. The forward has the diversity to play as an area forward or winger. He has physical power and corpulence to prevail on the entire attacking front.
Thus, Atlético Nacional hopes to reach a total agreement to confirm what would be its third signing for the second half of 2024, and continue strengthening the squad led by Uruguayan coach Pablo Repetto.
