The steam locomotive “The Empress” (The Empress 2816) advances towards the 11 cities that it has programmed in its call “Final Spike Steam Tour”.
The tour celebrates the union between the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City companies, merging their names into “Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC)” owner company of the emblematic steam engine.
The Empress, or La Emperatriz, dates from 1930 and is the most famous machine in all of North America; It traveled at least 12.9 million kilometers before being protected in 1960 and knowing it is a trip to the past.

Where and when to meet the famous Empress?
- You can visit it on June 7 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
- The appointment is at Calle Ferrocarril de Cuernavaca and Av. Río San Joaquín Dos Lagos, Miguel Hidalgo Mayor’s Office.
You can also enjoy “Puffer Belly Express”, a scale replica of the same locomotive and best of all, visit Emperatriz or Puffer Belly, there will be no cost.
If you dare to visit them, you can get there by public transportation from San Joaquín metro corresponding to the line 7 of the Mexico City metroto then walk through the surrounding streets, towards the San Joaquín River, from Lake Malar and Lake Hielmar.
