What does a 2024 BMW M2 with Akrapovic exhausts sound like? Turn up the volume and find out for yourself

What does a 2024 BMW M2 with Akrapovic exhausts sound like? Turn up the volume and find out for yourself. You have to enjoy the video, because the sound that comes out of that six-cylinder engine is without a doubt music to the ears. A system that brings out the best in BMW’s 3.0-liter block.

The Akrapovic company launches this exhaust to improve the sound of the 460 horsepower inline six-cylinder of the BMW M2. We are talking about the new generation of one of the brand’s best-selling BMW M, a well-known car that has just opened its generation and is evolving significantly in power.

This is the G87, the new edition of the BMW M2 with a 3.0-liter engine and 460 horsepower. And note that when the BMW M2 came on the market in its first generation, the brand did not present it as a “pure” BMW M. It did not even have all the accessories of the M family, considering it a “lesser M” in the range.

But that changed, because with its Competition version it already had everything that an M should have. This variant had more than 400 HP and was already considered “a pure M”, riding all the classic accessories that these sports cars include. And to conclude this generation, the BMW M2 CS arrived with 450 HP.

And if we go back to the last generation, We are looking at a car that measures 4.58 meters long and weighs 1,700 kg in the version with manual transmission. These 460 HP are extracted from its BMW six-cylinder biturbo engine to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h.

The top speed rises to 285 km/h with the optional M Driver package. For its part, the variant with the eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.1 seconds. A pure sports car with great features.

Akrapovic talks about the Slip-On Line Titanium, an exhaust that is made entirely of high quality titanium. You can choose between two exhaust outlet designs, including the octagonal shape, a design first seen on an Akrapovic exhaust for the BMW M3/M4.

Likewise, you can opt for the most traditional and classic one. The exhausts have handmade carbon fiber parts over the titanium interior. They incorporate special pieces, with two valves, one for each side of the silencer, and two acoustic reflectors.

The company reports that the valve housing and manifolds are manufactured at Akrapovic’s in-house titanium foundry. We are talking about an exhaust that is 7.3 kg lighter compared to the standard exhaust of the BMW M2 Coupé, 32.7% less.

“Power and performance are basic elements of any BMW M car, and the introduction of the Akrapovic Slip-On line enhances them with notable increases. When tested on the Akrapovic dyno against a BMW M2 Coupé with stock exhaust, power increased by 3.9 kW (5.3 hp) at 2,800 rpm and a torque increase of 13.5 Nm was recorded at 2,800 rpm,” said Akrapovic.
