Jaime García’s first victory in charge of Santiago Wanderers came with a major victory. Those from the port showed no mercy against San Luis de Quillota and beat them 6-0 at the Elías Figueroa Stadium, putting an end to a negative streak that had lasted for nine games.
Although the first 45 minutes ended with the score just 1-0, in the second half the local team passed the bulldozer and scored five times. In this way, those responsible for the celebrations were Marcelo Cañete (18′), Carlos Muñoz (56′, 73′), Juan Ignacio Duma (79′) and Joaquín Silva (89′, 92′).
The victory translates into the first game that the former Ñublense coach has won since he took over the bench of the Fifth Region squad at the end of May. In his debut he lost against Antofagasta and last week he had only rescued a draw against the University of Concepción. Now, in their third match, they finally achieved the three points and in the process ended the negative streak of nine games without winning for the Caturros.
Santiago Wanderers is currently in 12th place in Primera B, with just 18 points in 15 games played, so the win against San Luis, which had Humberto Suazo on the field until 62 minutes, is an oxygen tank in its fights to move away from the relegation spots in the second most important division in Chilean football.
