The town celebrates its Night Potato Fair again

The Night Potato Fair comes back to Sa Pobla this weekend. Plaça Major will once again host a great gastronomic and musical offer to make your two nights, June 7 and 8, a great event. The events will begin on Friday at 7:30 p.m., with an opening ceremony by the Sa Pobla Music Band. From that moment you will be able to enjoy the offer of 29 spaces in which dishes with potatoes as an essential ingredient will be served, as well as drinks and desserts from high-quality companies.

Biel Ferragut, mayor of the town, values the event as a great event experienced with intensity by neighbors and visitors. «The history of the Fair began with the 2008 potato exhibition, in which several exporting companies participated. “There was already the idea of holding a thematic fair and this was considered the ideal one.” The Fair currently encompasses two days, but at first it was only one, but “this idea soon changed due to the great success and since 2010 it has been celebrated with two days of which it now consists.

On Saturday it will be again at 7:30 p.m. when the activity begins, which will once again have music, entertainment and many different dishes. «This tapas format was chosen to encourage people’s participation. From the beginning many collaborators as wineries and associations joined the celebration,” says Ferragut. Currently the fair “enjoys a great acceptance and its continuity is guaranteed,” given, as the mayor says, the great demand for participants.

The councilor of Festes de Sa Pobla, Magdalena de la Fuente, highlights the combination of novelties and great classics: «There are restaurants that have been participating since the first edition and others that are doing so for the first time. The total number is higher than ever and this makes the offer is very varied». Visitors will be able to try traditional Sa Pobla dishes, but also very groundbreaking creations. This makes the Fira “very varied, always with new dishes. It is an appointment that engages and whoever tries it repeats,” says the councilor. Another important aspect is «the increasing presence of desserts, increasingly more elaborate. Also the multitude of options for any diet, such as vegan, vegetarian or especially designed for children,” she concludes.
