The first welding of pipes of the Reversion of the Northern Gasduct was carried out in La Carlota, a town in Córdoba where the layout of one of the main works for the Reversion of the Northern Gasduct begins. According to the companies, the trenching, splicing, special crossings, lining, lowering and covering work will now continue, and then the hydraulic tests will begin.
“The project is completed with a 62 km extension (loop) and the change of flow direction of 4 compressor plants. The compressor plants that will have their direction changed – that is, reverse the direction of the gas flow – are those of Ferreyra and Deán Funes in the province of Córdoba; Lavalle, in Santiago del Estero, and Lumbreras, in Salta, located on the route of the Northern Gasduct operated by TGN,” highlighted the newspaper Ámbito Financiero.
The Reversal of the Northern Gas Pipeline, whose completion is scheduled for the end of August or beginning of September, will allow gas from the Vaca Muerta formation in Neuquén, the second unconventional reserve in the world, to be transported to Córdoba, Salta, Jujuy, Santiago del Estero, Catamarca , La Rioja and Tucumán, to replace the gas that comes from Bolivia, supply homes and industries and allow the large-scale development of new activities such as lithium mining.
