A tragic traffic accident that occurred on Sunday around 9:00 p.m. in the Huasinota sector of the route to Camargo has left one person dead and four injured, all members of the same family.
According to the police report, the driver of the minibus, Edmundo Acuña, 44, did not have a driver’s license and had alcohol on his breath. Acuña claimed that the accident occurred due to a failure in the vehicle’s brakes, which did not respond when he tried to stop.
The fatal victim, identified as Sonia Llanos Arenas, 41, died due to severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). The injured, all relatives of the deceased, were diagnosed with various injuries:
The injured were transferred to the San Juan de Dios hospital in Camargo, Padcoyo and San Lucas. Personnel on duty immediately went to the scene of the accident, where they found the damaged vehicle on the right side of the road, in the direction of Padcoyo to Camargo.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
