The explosion of a motorcycle bomb in the center of the municipality of Jamundí, Valle del Cauca, injured several people, including a sergeant and a police patrol vehicle, confirmed the local mayor’s office.
The motorcycle, which exploded in front of the Bancolombia and AV Villas banking entities, would have been loaded with the detonators since Tuesday night and its purpose, according to preliminary information, was to attack the members of the Police who remain in the CAI mobile, very close to where the explosion occurred
“Unfortunately, in addition to the incident in Potrerito, a new act of violence has been reported in the center of Jamundí. A motorcycle bomb detonated near the main park and diagonal to Bancolombia. This act has resulted in several injuries, including a sergeant and a patrol vehicle who were on patrol in the sector at the time of the explosion. The National Police is currently on site controlling the area and securing the area to avoid further incidents,” the Jamundí Mayor’s Office officially stated.
At this time, local authorities are establishing how many people were injured, in addition to the uniformed officers who were just patrolling the area when the motorcycle exploded, as well as the material damage and damage to private property. It was learned that a gym also had damage to its infrastructure, several broken windows and doors.
