The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services of the province of Buenos Aires published a detailed report on the new electricity and gas rates that came into force starting in June.

From June, middle-income households will see a rreduction in subsidized consumption from 400 to 250 kWh monthly. For low-income households, the new limit will be 350 kWh monthly. Any consumption that exceeds these limits will be charged at the full price of the energy.

These rates will apply to users of the EDEA, EDEN, EDES and EDELAP distributors.

For residential consumption of 150 kWh per month, the new rates vary according to income levels:

  • High income (Level 1): Rates will range between $26,042 and $29,707, representing an increase of 14%.
  • Low income (Level 2): ​​The highest rates will reach $18,424, while the lowest will be $13,965, with an 80% adjustment.
  • Average income (Level 3): Tickets will vary between $16,740 and $20,981, which represents an increase of 69%.

For the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), considering an average consumption of 260 kWh, the final monthly rates will be:

  • Level 1: The rate will increase to between $24,710 and $30,355, an increase of 22.8%.
  • Level 2: The bill will rise from $6,295 to $12,545, reflecting an increase of 99.3%.
  • Level 3: The electricity rate will be $16,850, with an increase of 155.9%.

Gas rates for Camuzzi Gas Pampeana and Metrogas users will also experience significant increases:

  • High income (N1): A Camuzzi Gas Pampeana user will receive a bill of $46,449, while a Metrogas user will pay $56,467 in winter, with an increase of 299%.
  • Low incomes (N2): The rate will vary between $39,661 and $49,610 depending on the distributor, with an increase of 604%.
  • Average income (N3): A Metrogas user will receive a bill of $50,574, and a Camuzzi Gas Pampeana user will pay $40,615, representing an increase of 367%.
