Figures above the pre-covid era

After setting historical records for bicycle sales in Spain, last year (referring to 2022) the AMBE report, in collaboration with Cofidis, on the bicycle sector already showed a decrease in sales that occurred again in 2023 In total, 10% fewer bicycles were sold than in 2022 and turnover fell by 8.79%. Sales of e-bikes, gravel and road are growing and MTB is the discipline with the most sales

A series of data is extracted from the AMBE report on the bicycle sector that shows that the drop in sales and billing in Spain is evident, but that the sector continues to have significant movement, above the pre-covid era. . In total, turnover for 2023 amounted to 2,475 million euros with a total of 1,220,963 bicycles sold. A turnover 32.3% higher than in 2019.

What does not change is the category that most drives bicycle sales and contributes the most to global turnover. E-bikes have established themselves as the driving force of sales and their sales grew by 2.28% compared to the significant drop in sales of MTBs, with a decrease of 23.08%. The fact of going from 468,000 units sold in 2022 to 360,000 in 2023 means that the category of bicycles that sells the most units has become children’s bicycles with 362,100 units.

Regarding the average price of bicycles sold in Spain, in 2023 it was above 1,000 euros for the second consecutive year, reaching 1,139.15 euros compared to 1,120.7 euros in 2022.
