Sports Editorial, June 14 (EFE).- Colombia coach Néstor Lorenzo confirmed this Friday that midfielder Sebastián Gómez, from Curitiba, and center back Yerson Mosquera, from Villarreal, were ruled out for the Copa América in the United States.

“I already spoke with the two players who will not be on the final list (…) The response was very good, because they responded with gratitude for being among the 28 and for having shared all this time. So the two of them are going to be Sebastián Gómez and Yerson Mosquera,” said Lorenzo in the press conference prior to Saturday’s friendly against Bolivia, in the United States.

The Argentine coach added: “A shame, (Gómez and Mosquera) are part of this process, of this microcycle, two exceptional players with a great future.”

With the departure of these two players, Lorenzo defined the roster of 26 players with whom he will compete in the Copa América, which includes winger Luis Díaz, from Liverpool; the creative James Rodríguez, from Sao Paulo, and the full-back Daniel Muñoz, from Crystal Palace.

The call also includes other players who have been important in Lorenzo’s process, such as goalkeeper Camilo Vargas, from Atlas; central defender Davinson Sánchez, from Galatasaray; midfielder Jefferson Lerma, from Crystal Palace, and forward Rafael Santos Borré, from Internacional de Porto Alegre.

Colombia is part of Group D of the Copa América with Brazil, Paraguay and Costa Rica.
