“Chabuca”, film inspired by the life of the television presenter Ernesto Pimentel, featured a distinguished cast that garnered numerous praise from social media users. Among the notable actors was Miguel Davaloswho gave life to the character inspired by Alex Brocca, the comedian’s ex-partner.
Recently, the young artist attended an interview for Carlos Orozco’s “Ouke” podcast, where he revealed details about Ernesto Pimentel’s film, which a few weeks ago arrived on Netflix. In the process he told how he participated in the casting of the film and how he met the television personality.
When the name of the ‘Chola Chabuca’ performer was mentioned, Carlos Orozco decided to ask Miguel Dávalos if the television host had any romantic relationship with him, a question that arose after several entertainment figures claimed that the comedian had flirted with them. Questioned as to whether Ernesto Pimentel had any relationship beyond work with him, Miguel Dávalos was blunt in pointing out that this never happened and indicated that the América TV presenter was always respectful.
“No no no. Ernesto is very respectful, you know? He has always been very respectful. So, no, nothing ever happened.”said the actor who plays the character inspired by Alex Brocca.
Trying to get something out of the ordinary, Carlos Orozco asked Dávalos if he wanted to have another type of relationship with the ‘Chola Chabuca’ actor, but this doubt was also denied. “No, neither (I tried to have a relationship with him) I respect him a lot”said the young man.
After the premiere of “Chabuca”, many people began to focus on the book “Canto de dolor: do not repeat history”, where Alex Brocca narrates what he experienced being the partner of Ernesto Pimentel’s driver. The material was so interesting that many pointed out that it could also be a movie. Even Brocca’s sisters, who are currently in Peru, commented openly that they are evaluating the possibility of releasing a film with his brother’s version and denying many of the things that Pimentel showed in his film.
In this context, Miguel Dávalos was consulted by Carlos Orozco about the possibility of reprising the character of Alex Brocca in his own autobiographical film. First, the actor did not hesitate to highlight the merit of “Chabuca” for making Pimentel’s ex-partner well known. “Now there is a lot of information about Alex Brocca, he appears on Google, he has his page on Wikipedia and I think that is a great goal of the film, that it makes visible someone whom history tried to make invisible”he commented.
Then, he indicated that he would be interested in reprising the role of Brocca, but that he would have to talk about it with Pimentel for ethical reasons. “Of course I would consider the role, but I would have to discuss it very well with Ernesto Pimentel. For professional ethics, above all, and for what we know he is going to lead, one talks. I think there is a closeness from the film to the production, to the entire team and to Ernesto to be able to talk about things head on. Originally from Callao, Brocca stood out as a Peruvian dancer in the 90s and also ventured into acting after studying at the Institute of Fine Arts. His career led him to share the stage with prominent figures such as Coco Marusix and Naamin Timoyco in television shows. However, it was his relationship with Ernesto Pimentel that made his presence stand out in Peruvian entertainment, given the comedian’s renown in the artistic world.
