More than 700 people participated this Friday afternoon in the big family photo of the America’s Cup. Dressed in blue, more than half of the participants were volunteers for the event that will start in Barcelona on August 22. The Marina dock, in the Port Olímpic, was the setting chosen to immortalize the original image, which included the head of the event, Grant Dalton, the vice president of the America’s Cup Event (ACE), Aurora Catà and the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, who explained the city’s commitment to the most historic regatta in the world.

Thus, more than 500 volunteers and 200 people linked in one way or another to the celebration of the America’s Cup, from members of the organization to numerous members of the participating teams, were strategically positioned to define on a large scale the official logo of the Cup. 37th edition of the America’s Cup.

The initiative is pioneering, since never before in the 173 years of this sporting event had an event of this type been organized. With it, the organization wants to bring the event closer to the citizens and, at the same time, give prominence to those who contribute with their work to making this next edition a reality, especially the volunteers. Precisely, one of those in charge of energizing the event was Xavi Prat, head of volunteering for the America’s Cup Event (ACE), who organized the attendees to locate and define the logo.
Photography became a party. The participants were scheduled to meet at five in the afternoon and after photographing and recording the human logo by land and air, the event continued with the performance of a DJ who performed until well after eight in the afternoon.
