In the last two nights, the Ruta 20 neighborhood of Caucete has been the scene of a series of robberies that have affected at least 40 homes. The criminals stole the gas connections from the cabinets, generating considerable expense and complications in the daily lives of the neighbors.
Neighborhood residents have expressed their despair and anger over these incidents. Through messages sent to Infocaucete, a neighbor related the situation: “We wanted to know if through you we can make known the crime that is being experienced in the Ruta 20 neighborhood. Last night, families of almost two blocks were affected by these scourges.” , they stole our gas connections. While one rests at night to go out to work, these scourges do their thing.
The theft of gas connections not only represents a high expense for families, but also a significant risk. «This work is very expensive. Beyond the expense of what has been stolen from us, it is spending on buying already prepared food. I swear I’m crying because I’m angry because my pension payment is going to go to this,” another neighbor expressed with obvious frustration.
Replacing stolen items is expensive. According to the neighbors, the gas pipe costs approximately 35 thousand pesos, the regulator around 55 thousand, and the labor about 45 thousand pesos, adding up to a total of 135 thousand pesos per home. This expense is unsustainable for many of the affected families, especially retirees living on fixed incomes.
The residents of the Ruta 20 neighborhood ask the authorities for greater security and effective measures to prevent these crimes.
