Lucerne, Sweden, was the new stage of the investment promotion mission that the Minister of Economy Nicolás Grau, with the support of InvestChile, leads within the framework of the presidential tour to Europe, and which has already visited Germany and Sweden.

On Saturday, the Secretary of State participated in a business agenda organized jointly with the Chilean embassy and the Swiss State Secretariat for the Economy (SECO). In this regard, he highlighted that “accompanied by the Swiss Minister of Economy, we had meetings this Saturday with companies of various sizes and sectors. In addition to interesting investment possibilities in Chile, we have talked about the manufacturing and learning model in the Swiss company. There is a lot to learn from those models,” he commented.

Minister Grau had the opportunity to learn about the experience of Thermoplan, a company that annually manufactures – with local labor – 36 thousand coffee machines (its main client worldwide is Starbucks), and whose technology already allows “smart” vending machines. , which store the preferences and customs of their users.

Then, he visited the Andritz Hydro plant, a developer and supplier of facilities for hydroelectric plants, among other sectors, present in Chile for 20 years (with plants in Colina and Talcahuano), and which is currently working with Colbún in its Pumping Station. Paposo, the first electricity generation initiative in Chile and Latin America based on a closed circuit of recirculation of desalinated water.

In the afternoon, the minister met with the CEO of Glencore, Garry Nagel, one of the most relevant companies in the world in the mining sector, with a presence in 35 countries, which has three operations in Chile (Compañía Minera Lomas Bayas and Altonorte Metallurgical Complex and Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi), and more than 1,800 employees in the country.

After the meeting, Grau visited the Mount Pilatus cable car, accompanied by a representative of the company Geobrugg, manufacturer of the cables that support the cabins of this means of transport, and with a presence in Chile in the infrastructure and mining sectors. with products and services for protection against natural disasters, thanks to its plant in Rancagua.

Finally, the Minister of Economy held an extended meeting with representatives of six companies, from sectors such as mining, technological innovation, health supplies, high-precision motors and training, where he presented an overview of Chile’s opportunities, along with discussing the early training and dual education model that Switzerland has successfully implemented.

It should be noted that the investment promotion agenda of the ministry and InvestChile will end this Monday in Paris, with a series of meetings with local companies.
