In an effort to improve connectivity in the Magallanes Region during the winter season, LATAM Airlines Group has announced a significant increase in its flight offering. During the month of July, the airline will make nearly 400 flights available to passengers to and from the region, which represents an increase of almost seven thousand additional seats compared to the previous season, totaling more than 77 thousand seats for July.
LATAM Airlines currently operates flights from two airports in the region and maintains four active routes: Punta Arenas to Santiago, Puerto Montt, Río Gallegos and Mount Pleasant. As of July 3, a fifth direct route will be added between Puerto Montt and Puerto Natales. This new route will offer three weekly flights and will allow passengers to save approximately four hours of travel time by avoiding passing through Santiago. In addition, this route will serve as an alternative for travelers from Santiago who wish to reach Puerto Natales between May and September.
María Paz Villasante, Commercial Strategy Manager of LATAM Airlines Group, commented: “This increase in offer on routes to Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales is in line with the greater internal mobility that we expect for the season. If we compare with the same period in 2023, we will add almost seven thousand seatswhich favors the connectivity of our passengers but also benefits regional tourism.”
Within Chile, favorite destinations include Calama (through San Pedro), Iquique and Antofagasta in the north, while in the south, the most popular are Concepción, Temuco and Puerto Montt. For those connecting in Santiago, the most popular international destinations are Lima, Miami, and several cities in Brazil such as Rio, Florianópolis and the recently inaugurated direct route to Brasilia.
