The Coalition took a step towards the unexpected, surprising all fans at the latest Xbox Games Showcase with what will be the next installment of the Gears of War saga. And this new editionor continues what was seen in Gears 5 but will take players to the beginning of the war.
Matt Mearcy, creative director of the game, gave an interview after the Microsoft event and explained some details regarding the story of Gears of War: E-Day.
A start never seen before in Gears of War
The title begins 14 years earlier than seen in the first installment and will star Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in their first fight against the Locusts. The game’s story will take place over several days that show the fall of the city and the extermination of most of its inhabitants.

In terms of technical progress, the new Gears of War promises to have 100 times more details in terms of characters and cities than Gears 5 according to what Kate Rayner, technical director of the studio, mentioned. The date of the title’s arrival on Xbox Series X/S is still unknown, but the rumor is that it is very possible that we can enjoy it in 2025, even before Fable.
