Mexico City.- The National Association of Actors (ANDA) announced today the death of Moisés Ortiz Urquidiprominent Mexican actor and filmmaker, recognized mainly for his participation in the soap opera “Las Aparicio.” The news was shared through the X platformformerly known as Twitter, where a message of condolences was expressed for his family and friends, accompanied by an image of the deceased.

The ANDA statement, expressed with great regret, said:

The Film Commission of Mexico City also expressed his sadness at the loss of the filmmaker. On its social networks, CFILMA stated:

Although the exact cause of his death has not yet been revealed, the news has generated a wave of reactions and displays of affection on social networks. Ortiz, originally from Oaxaca de Juárez, studied cinematography at the prestigious Cinematographic Training Center (CCC), where he also taught classes in Cinematographic Editing Theory, leaving a significant mark in the training of new generations of filmmakers.

Ortiz’s career included work on well-known series produced by HBO and Cadena Tres. He stood out especially for his work in the second and third seasons of “Capadocia” and the successful series “Las Aparicio”. One of his most notable achievements was in 1991, when his fiction short film “Cuantas Viejas Quieras” won the Golden Crocodile Award for Best Original Music at the International Film Festival and Film School Directors in Nimes, France. This recognition, among many others, underlines the excellence of Moisés Ortiz Urquidi as a pillar in the Mexican film and television industry.
