Former Albacete player Rey Manaj makes his debut in the Euro Cup with Albania

Yesterday, Rey Manaj, former Albacete Balompié forward, made his debut in the Euro Cup with his national team, Albania, facing Italy. Manaj, who played a season and a half with Albacete, scoring 10 goals in 41 games, currently plays for Sivasspor in the Turkish league. This season has been especially fruitful for him, scoring 21 goals that earned him a call-up to the continental tournament.

In a group that also includes Croatia and Spain, Albania faced Italy in its first match. Manaj entered the field in the last 15 minutes, during which he had two clear scoring chances that almost gave his team the tie. Despite the 2-1 defeat, his performance left a positive impression.

Manaj’s career has been remarkable in recent years. After his time at Albacete, he joined Barça B, where he played two seasons with good performance. Subsequently, he had less successful spells at Spezia and Watford. However, his career revived at Sivasspor, and it is rumored that he could sign for Lazio for around €15 million.
