In the midst of the crisis, Argentina seeks solutions to supply gas from Bolivia, Brazil and Chile

Enarsathe energy company of Argentinaand Bolivian Fiscal Oil Fields (YPFB) reached an agreement to guarantee the supply of natural gas in seven provinces in the center/northern of the country during the winter and avoid shortage problems due to delays in the completion of the Reversal of the Northern Gasduct.

According to the agreement, Enarsa and YPFB signed a ninth addendum to the contract that ensures the supply of gas for August and September of this year. This measure will make it possible to supply the demand of up to 4 million cubic meters per day in the central/northern area of the country, while the construction of the Northern Gasduct Reversion project continues.

According to Enarsa, this project is expected to be operational by September 15, which will allow 5 million additional cubic meters per day to be brought to the northern provinces. In a second phase, it is expected to add another 4 million cubic meters per day.

The supply contract between Argentina and Bolivia, which supplies gas to seven provinces in the center and north of the country, was scheduled to end on July 31 after decades of validity. However, with this renewal it will be extended for two more months to guarantee supply while we wait for the Reversion of the Northern Gasduct to be ready and the demand can be covered with resources from Dead cow.

In the midst of the crisis due to the gas deficit in May, the Government seeks to prevent a similar situation during the coldest months of the year. Therefore, in addition to the agreement with the Bolivian oil company, negotiations have been carried out with Brazil and Chile to ensure supply.

An agreement was signed with Brazil Memorandum of understanding between Enarsa and Petrobras in April, which will last three years and seeks to resolve the gas supply in the Argentine Northwest while the reversal works on the Northern Gasduct are completed.

On the other hand, an agreement has been reached with the Chilean state-owned company Enap to import natural gas and supply northern Argentina from the Mejillones Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal.

According to the Chilean Ministry of Energy, Engie Energy Chile and Enap Refinerías will sign a contract for the purchase and sale of natural gas to export the volumes required by Enarsa.
