MEXICO CITY.- Jesús Zambrano, national president of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), recognized that the cycle of what was one of the strongest leftist fronts in the country ended with the past campaigns.
The PRD member assured that the result obtained this year drastically ended the party, which, furthermore, is no longer like the one they built 35 years ago.
“I cannot hide my sadness for what is happening, but we have come this far to close a cycle and I hope that with everything that all this political capital that we accumulate and of which we contribute to be a part of means, we have the means to start a new cycle.” “said Zambrano moved, cheering for the party, for Mexico and for democracy.
“That PRD that we built 35 years ago no longer exists as such, but it must be said, the enthusiasm and conviction to continue fighting for a democracy that is now threatened and a homeland for all is still alive.”
In a meeting of the New Left current, which dominated the party after the disbandment of different leaderships to Morena, Zambrano acknowledged that they never banished the vices of the tribes.
He also called to go with other political actors and organizations that want to reaffirm their commitment to a better Mexico. And, he said, despite the support of state committees and candidates, “they failed to maintain the registry.”
“The PRD, then, it must be said with complete frankness, as such it is not a national option for today’s society,” he added.
At the regional level, they achieved 68 Mayor’s Offices, two first-minority Senates and a federal district, in addition to 14 entities being able to maintain the local registry.
“In the event of losing the PRD, (that is) the current national legal registration, we must work for the legal registration of a new party with a new name, leaving behind the practices and vices that caused these results in the PRD,” he stated. .
Zambrano acknowledged that there was no coordination with the PRI and the PAN for the campaign of the presidential candidate, Xóchitl Gálvez, in order to define strategy, tours and the communication of the message to the voters.
This, plus the party’s deficiencies and the effect of what, he claimed, was a state election, led to the imminent loss of registration of the Aztec sun.
Given this, he called for the creation of a new democratic left party, based on the local registration that remains of the PRD in various entities.
“30 percent of the vote was insufficient. The social majority rejected us, they did not trust Xóchitl and the coalition, we did not earn their trust.
“Certainly, multiple errors were made in the opposition coalition because there was never a campaign strategy discussed and agreed upon by everyone, with the candidate, the political parties and the representation of civil society in it,” he described.
