HEALDSBURG, CA.- A wildfire in Sonoma County, called the Point Fire, has covered 1,100 acres and is 20% contained, as last updated June 17 at 6:45 a.m.
The fire started on June 16 at 12:33 pm near Stewarts Point Skaggs Springs Road, Healdsburg.
The North Bay incident management team has been activated for the fire.
During the night, crews continued to build and strengthen control lines, working in favorable conditions.
Three helicopters conducted nighttime aerial firefighting operations to support resources on the ground.
This Monday there is the potential for further spread of the fire.
400 people, 4 helicopters, 50 motor pumps, 10 bulldozers, 10 water pipes and 12 crews have been assigned to the fire.
Numerous firefighting air tankers across the state are flying fire suppression missions as conditions allow.
An evacuation order has been issued for Zone SON-2E2 and an evacuation warning for Zone SON-2E3 in response to the fire that was started on Sunday.
The fire generated a huge plume of dark smoke as it made its way through brush and timber about 80 miles north of San Francisco, destroying at least one structure.
