Government launches information campaign on the electricity subsidy for the most vulnerable families

June 17, 2024

This benefit is aimed at 1.5 million of the most vulnerable households and applications will begin on July 1 on the website www.subsidioelectrico.cl

The launch of the information campaign on the application process for the electricity subsidy that will begin next Monday, July 1 on the website www.subsidioelectrico.cl was held at the neighborhood meeting of the Manuel Montt neighborhood in the commune of Independencia.

The Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, participated in the activity; the undersecretary of the portfolio, Luis Felipe Ramos; the mayor of Independencia, Gonzalo Durán and residents of the commune who learned from the authorities the scope of this initiative.

During the activity, Minister Pardow explained that “this public policy is implemented for the first time so that families can accompany the process of adjustments that are necessary in the electrical system. This subsidy seeks to provide effective relief to the pockets of the inhabitants of all the communities in the country.”

For his part, Undersecretary Ramos stated that “it is very important that people can inform themselves in order to know the requirements and channels to apply for this subsidy. That is why we have enabled different avenues so that people can obtain information. The main one is the website www.subsidioelectrico.cl but other channels will also be enabled, such as a Call Center so that people can find out directly about their personal situation and also a WhatsApp that will be available 24 hours a day.

Mayor Durán valued the implementation of this public policy and showed his willingness to collaborate in disseminating the application process. “We as a municipality call on all municipalities in the country to accompany the process, to inform our neighbors and help them in the application, especially when it comes to older people who may have difficulty applying via the internet. The municipality is always a gateway and we make ourselves available to collaborate in this process and guarantee an effective application for our neighbors,” he added.

The application requirements for the electricity subsidy are to belong to a household that is in the most vulnerable 40% of the Social Registry of Households and to be up to date on electricity bills or, failing that, to have signed a payment agreement at the time of the allocation of the benefit.

The application process will begin on July 1 on the website www.subsidioelectrico.cl and will extend until July 14 at 11:59 p.m. Those who are beneficiaries of this subsidy will materialize through a discount on electricity bills.

“We are working so that the payment of this subsidy corresponding to the second half of 2024 is paid in a single installment in October, so that it covers the months from July to December. Starting in 2025, the subsidy will materialize monthly,” explained Pardow.

To resolve questions about the process, in addition to the website www.subsidioelectrico.cl, a telephone service 600 6000 732 and the WhatsApp number +569 9000 0236 were implemented.
