The president of the Unión por la Patria PJ bloc, Alejo Sarna, announced that they will present a Draft Ordinance that declares the tariff emergency in the face of electricity and gas increases. The initiative seeks to promote the intervention of the municipal government by providing economic assistance to the sectors most affected by the increases.

As detailed by Sarna, through a new resolution of the National Energy Secretariat, the increases in basic services rates were made official. “In the case of electricity, the increases range between 100 and 155% for low and medium sectors and, for gas, between 55 and 60% for the same sectors,” he explained.

In addition, he stressed that “these tariff increases occur in a context of an abrupt drop in economic activity where salaries, sales in businesses and industrial activity also fell.”

“In this climate, Campanense families are receiving electricity and gas bills with increases that are impossible to pay. As these increases have already begun to arrive, the city’s families, businesses and SMEs are really very worried about how they will pay for them,” he added.

Faced with this reality, the block requests – through a Draft Ordinance of the Honorable Deliberative Council – to declare the tariff emergency.

“Basically we request that the Municipality be able to assist those neighbors who are unable to pay their electricity and gas bills as well as those businesses that, given the enormous increase, risk lowering their blinds. Also, we intend to assist SMEs, but fundamentally also assist neighbors who are electrodependent,” Sarna said.

Finally, he indicated: “We believe that these are essential services that human beings need to be able to live with dignity. Guaranteeing these services is an obligation of the State and, if the government of Javier Milei does not want to do it, we do have to do it from the Municipality of Campana. We cannot allow the life and dignity of our neighbors to be left to the market. We need a present State that extends a hand to those who need it most and mainly to those who are suffering today from the policies of the National government.”
