In addition to the Nintendo Direct, the embargo on Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree also ended yesterday… at the same time that the Nintendo event began! You can read Víctor’s analysis on the website and in a couple of days you will be able to enjoy this very promising expansion. The embargo on first impressions of Dragon Quest III HD-2D, one of the more than thirty games we saw at the Direct, also ended yesterday afternoon.

With Nintendo as the main protagonist of the day, let’s comment on the news for Wednesday, June 19, 2024:

  • More than thirty games took shape in a Nintendo Direct with new features such as Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Mario&Luigi: Brotherly Connection or Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. Although it was an event aimed at revealing the Switch catalog for the remainder of the year, a large part of the announcements had a release date in 2025. These were some of the featured games at the event:
    • Mario & Luigi: Brotherly Connection (November 7)
    • Fantasian Neo Dimension (winter)
    • Donkey Kong Country Return HD (January 16, 2025)
    • Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake (November 14)
    • Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (June 27)
    • Darkest Dungeon II (July 15)
    • Marvel vs Capcom Fighter Collection: Arcade Classics (2024)
    • Super Mario Party Jamboree (October 17)
    • The Legend of Link Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (September 26)
    • LEGO Horizon Adventures (Winter)
    • Stray (winter)
    • Tales of the Shire (winter)
    • Ace Attorney Investigations Collection (September 6)
    • Metroid Prime 4 Beyond (2025)
  • In 2026 there will be a new Lords of the Fallen. According to CI Games, it will be for PC and new generation consoles. This news is confirmation of the previous day about the studio’s agreement with Epic Games to publish its next game on the Epic Games Store.
  • Firesprite announced yesterday the end of negotiations after the layoffs announced in February by Sony. The studio published a statement on Twitter about it, recalling that it was four months ago when these changes were announced at PlayStation Studios, which would ultimately mean layoffs. They also share their intention to face the future “with resilience and determination.” Firesprite is the studio responsible for games like Horizon Call of the Mountain.
  • Beat the Beats launches trial version on PlayStation VR2. The Parallel Circles game that could already be tested on other virtual reality platforms had its space in the Reload Podcast, since in February we were able to interview those responsible for the studio.
  • Yesterday we learned about the following games that will be added to Game Pass:
    • On the Xbox blog they remind us that yesterday Still Wakes the Deep, one of the featured releases of the week, was added to the Game Pass catalog.
    • Today is the turn of My Time at Sandrock
    • Keplerth will be added tomorrow, although only on PC
    • On Tuesday, June 25, EA Sports FC 24
    • SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Dig 2 join Game Pass on June 26
    • Robin Hood – Sherwood Builders will be on Game Pass starting June 27
