Referee and VAR for Colombia vs Paraguay

The Conmebol Referees Commission announced the referee appointments for the first date of groups C and D for the 2024 Copa América in the United States.

The Colombian National Team will make its debut against Paraguay on Monday at the NRG stadium in Houston, at 5:00 p.m., Colombian time. The refereeing group in charge of this match will be mostly Argentine, and will be headed by Darío Herrera.

He had already been in a game between these two teams, but as a fourth official. He went to Barranquilla for the Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifiers in a match that ended goalless. As the main referee he has only officiated one match against Colombia, the 2-2 draw in Chile in the previous Qualifiers.

The line assistants will be his compatriots Juan Pablo Belatti and Cristian Navarro, while the Bolivian Ivo Méndez will work as the fourth referee.

In the video refereeing there will be the Argentine Silvio Trucco as VAR and the Chilean Rodrigo Carvajal as AVAR.

The other match of the first day of group D, Brazil against Costa Rica, will be judged by the Mexican César Ramos. That game will be at SoFi Stadium, in Los Angeles, at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
