Zacatecas, Zac., June 21, 2024.- Thousands of families and fans participate in the professional soccer festival that takes place in the capital of Zacatecas with the Cup for Peace and which is played by Mineros de Zacatecas, Pachuca, Cruz Azul and Chivas del Guadalajara, a tournament which was formally inaugurated this Friday afternoon with the match in which the Tuzos beat the home team, with a score of 2-1.
The most anticipated soccer weekend for thousands of Zacatecans brought together fans excited to see their teams and players. Therefore, the Carlos Vega Villalba stadium was at its maximum capacity, which shows that sport unites families and generates peace.
In the first match of the Cup for Peace, with goals from Pedro Pedraza and Oussama Idrissi, Tuzos del Pachuca defeated Mineros de Zacatecas 2-1, which they scored through Juan José Calero.
Governor David Monreal Ávila said that this tournament is part of the 2024 Peace Agenda and is an important and beautiful effort by the Government of Zacatecas and civil society to bring joy to the people and offer top quality shows.
He highlighted that, during this weekend, the best of national soccer has gathered in Zacatecas since first division players come, two of them from the Mexican soccer league.
In addition, it should be noted that the Cup for Peace is part of the preseason of these teams for their participation in the Apertura 2024 tournament of the Expansion League and Liga MX.
The president added that, also within the Peace Agenda, other sporting events are on the horizon in Zacatecas such as the Fourth Peace Race that will take place in the near future and, in October, the Great Peace Race that will bring together international, national and local runners, with a purse of more than 2 million pesos.
It should be noted that, during the soccer games this Friday, some commemorative balls were given away, a dynamic that will continue for those who have completed their commemorative album.
