Mari Boya (Campos Racing) has been the winner of the Formula 3 Sprint race held this morning at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the first support race of the weekend in Montmeló. The driver from Ilerda started third on the inverted grid and benefited from an incident between the first two, in the third of the 21 laps. Trident’s teammates Santiago Ramos and Sami Meguetounif shared the front row of the grid, but the Frenchman attacked the Mexican at the end of the main straight, rammed him and they were eliminated.

Boya inherited first place and maintained it until the end, despite attacks from Alex Dunne (MP Motorsport). The British driver attacked the Catalan on lap 16, but Boya resisted the pressure well. Two laps later, with only three laps left, Gabriele Minì (Pulse Racing) hit Sebastián Montoya (Campos Racing) in turn 5 and both ended up off the track. The race ended neutralized with Safety Caro, and Boya thus achieved his first victory in F3, in his second year in the category. Third was another Campos Racing driver, Oliver Goethe.

In the general classification, neither the leader Minì nor the second placed, Luke Browning (Hitech Pulse Eight), have scored points. The third, Luca Fornaroli (Trident), came seventh and set the fastest lap (1 extra point), so that he is now second in the championship, behind Minì and ahead of Browing. This race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has been historic, because it has been the 100th race of the FIA F3 championship, since it replaced GP3 in 2019.
