Trump and Biden are preparing, each in their own way, for a great debate

The president of United States, Joe Bidenwill meet with his assistants at Camp David for several days to prepare for the debate with his rival, donald trump. Trump, for his part, eschews traditional preparation and prefers to hold informal political discussions during his campaign stops.

The debate in Atlanta will be the earliest in modern US history and crucial for both candidates. Biden, 81, and Trump, 78, are tied in the polls, with many voters still undecided five months before the Nov. 5 election.

This debate, which will take place on June 27 at 9 p.m. (EST), will offer the clearest contrast between the oldest candidates seeking the presidency, at a time when voters are questioning their age and mental acuity. According to Patrick Stewart, a political science professor at the University of Arkansas, “it’s an incredible test of their cognitive competence.”

With strict rules including muted microphones when it is not their turn, a ban on notes and no audience to cheer on, both candidates will face a challenging format. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will not participate, leaving only Biden and Trump on stage.

Ron Klain, Biden’s former chief of staff, leads his preparation sessions at Camp David, where Biden also prepared for his State of the Union address in March.

Date and time of the first Biden-Trump debate: Thursday, June 27 at 9 p.m. (EST).

New rules: The debate will last 90 minutes with two commercial breaks. New rules will be implemented to avoid interruptions, such as microphones muted except for each candidate’s turn, prohibition of notes and accessories, allowing only one pen, one notebook and one bottle of water per candidate.
