MEXICO CITY (apro).- Barcelona Atlètic, led by Mexican Rafael Márquez, was one step away from being promoted to the Second Division of Spain after losing the final against Córdoba. The overall score ended 3-2.

This Sunday, June 23, Córdoba received Barcelona Atlètic at the Nuevo El Arcángel Municipal stadium to play the defining duel in the fight for Spanish promotion. In the first leg, the score ended 1-1, so this match would be open in the fight to climb the categories.

The Mexican coach repeated the same eleven from the first leg at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. Aware that to advance they needed victory, the Barcelona subsidiary attacked from the opening whistle. In the 14th minute the first goal of the afternoon fell, courtesy of Héctor Fort, giving the Blaugranas the lead.

However, the home team did not sit idly by and in the 34th minute, Alberto Toni tied the score. Until that moment the overall score was 2-2. Toril, in the 55th minute, scored the last goal of the match and, therefore, the final 3-2 that gave Córdoba promotion.

It is the second time that Rafa Márquez reaches the final phase of the fight for promotion. Last season he lost in the Semifinals against Real Madrid Castilla and now he has a new opportunity to promote.
