One of the main news during the national championships weekend was the time trial title in Denmark. The same went to Johan Price-Pejtersen on the route, but was left in the hands of Mattias Skjelmose on the desks.
The jury decided to disqualify the “winner” considering that he took advantage of using a trail bike because it helped him on a roundabout. Of course, what the judges didn’t see (or didn’t want to see) was that Skjelmose and other riders also used the trail bike in other segments of the course.
The thing is, the Lidl Trek man was so angry that he attacked the TV in the first place. “You had a chance, see you,” he told reporters, to whom he had previously indicated that he would not talk about the issue.
The next day, calmer, the now Danish time trial champion shared his thoughts. “Yesterday they crowned me champion, which was what I wanted. But the problem is that I didn’t win the way I wanted,” he said on social networks.
“I will not be responsible for the judges’ decision and I had nothing to do with it. But I want to express my sympathy towards Johan (Price-Pejtersen), to whom I offered the jersey and the champion medal,” he closed.
