Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn tell us how to negotiate silence in ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’

What you need to know:

We interviewed Lupita Nyiong’o and Joseph Quinn for the premiere of ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’, the prequel to the franchise.

In 2018, John Krasinsky (Jim de The Office) launched himself as director of a new franchise titled A Quiet Placewhich mixed several genres such as drama and science fiction brought together in a suspense thriller that presented us with a world invaded by aliens who annihilate everything that generates noise.

Kransinsky also took on the character of Lee, a family man who travels with his wife Evelyn (played by his real-life wife, Emily Blunt) and his sons. After a terrible loss, they begin a silent life in which they must escape the terror that even a whisper represents. HERE is our review.

The film was extremely successful with critics and at the box office. So they greenlit a sequel starring Blunt alongside Cillian Murphy. HERE is our interview for this film. And so, a new film was approved that would resolve one of the biggest doubts: How did these aliens arrive and how were the first moments experienced?

That’s what it’s about A Quiet Place: Day Onewhich is directed by Michael Sarnoski (who gave us the brilliant Pig alongside Nicolas Cage) and has a sensational cast that includes Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou and the protagonists Lupita Nyong’o (Oscar winner) and Joseph Quinn. And just with the two of them we had the opportunity to talk about its premiere:

A Quiet Place: Day One

A Quiet Place: Day One It’s a prequel of the first two films of the franchise. That brings us to the day when aliens arrived on Earth and began exterminating everything that generated sound. AND The risk increases considering that the film is set in New York City.

The film starts with a text that reveals to us that In New York, the city’s decibels are 90… 90! That amounts to constant screaming. Why? First of all, it is a huge city, with millions of inhabitants, one of the most touristic places in the world, and an activity that never stops.

Can you imagine how an unstoppable sound is the enemy of any living being? This is where we meet Sam, a woman who has a terminal illness. One day, together with several residents of a hospice, they go to Manhattan to eat and see a play… and this is where it all begins.

While Sam tries survive with his kitten named Frodo (he’s as cool as Messi’s dog Anatomy of a Fall), meet Eric, a lonely guy who accompanies her in search of medicine and permanent shelter.

A Quiet Place: Day One It is presented as a survival movie which, although it has all its elements, stands out for strengthening one of its arguments. To explain it, we have to go back to the first film, which introduced us to a family determined to survive.

In this new film, there are no families, but “Independent” people who must form a bond strong enough to recognize the possibility of sacrifice. And the truth is, the development of its protagonists, as well as the story, is intense and beautiful.
