The National Meteorological Service (SNM) in San Juan issued a special weather declaration warning of a strong storm that will impact the municipalities of Trujillo Alto, Río Grande Occidental, Gurabo Northeast, San Juan Northeast, Carolina, Loíza, Juncos Northwest and Canóvanas until 3:30 in the afternoon.

At 2:59 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a strong storm over Canovanas, moving northwest at a speed of 25 miles per hour.

The SNM warned of wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour, which could knock down tree branches and displace unsecured objects.

It is recommended that if you are outdoors, you consider sheltering inside a building for safety.

Flood warning for three municipalities

The SNM issued a flood warning for the municipalities of Aguada, Aguadilla and Moca, valid until 3:30 in the afternoon.

According to the SNM, at 1:36 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to storms in these areas, with accumulations of up to 1 inch of rain. Up to an additional 1 inch is expected to fall, which could cause minor flooding in poorly drained areas.

Localities that could experience flooding include Aguada, Aguadilla and Moca.

The SNM advises citizens to be aware of their surroundings and not drive on flooded roads.
