Four people lost their lives and 13 were injured on the Montería – Planeta Rica road in Córdoba, when a bus from the Expreso Brasilia company collided with a ambulance from the San Jorge de Ayapel hospital.
The accident occurred in the vicinity of the Loma Azul area and it seems that the crash could be linked to the darkness in the area and excessive speed, although nothing has been officially said in this regard.
The information provided by the local inhabitants would indicate that in the accident, apparently a motorcycle is involved that could be the cause of the tragedy, when the two vehicles had tried to avoid it so as not to run over its driver.
Another hypothesis of the accident is that the ambulance driver supposedly overtook in a prohibited place and collided head-on with the bus.
The Córdoba Police and the Highway Police did not provide an official version of what happened.

The press office of the Expreso Brasilia company confirmed the four deceased people, including the bus driver, identified as Ignacio Vargas, and the 13 injured people.
It was also indicated that the vehicle identification number is 7947 and that in 41 people were traveling to Bogotá.
The information states that the crash left the three occupants of the ambulance that was heading towards Montería dead. The driver of this vehicle, Rodney Blanquicet Romero and the nursing assistant, Carlos Julio Curiel.
No information was provided on the fourth person who also died and was an occupant of the ambulance.
The residents of the place reported that the impact was so strong that it left calls for the ambulance and the bus displaced several meters.
Those injured in the accident were taken to the Planeta Rica hospital and the Montería Trauma clinic, where they receive treatment.
“The hospital practically collapsed, because most of the injured were taken to the Planeta Rica hospital. That is why others had to be transferred to Montería,” it was indicated from this healthcare center.
