Oil production rose 8.8% year-on-year in May and gas production rose 11.4%, according to data published today by the Ministry of Energy.

“Production continues to rise: in addition to year-on-year growth, positive figures were recorded during May compared to previous months,” the agency indicated through social networks.

Likewise, he reported that 692.9 thousand barrels of oil were produced daily, what represents an increase of 0.2% compared to last month.

While, 150.2 thousand m³/day of gas were produced, and this represents an 8.4% increase compared to April 2024.

In another order, the secretariat indicated that between January and May, gasoline and diesel oil exports increased 85% compared to December.

According to the official interpretation, this translates into an annualized foreign exchange income of US$475 million.

This situation contrasts with sales in the domestic market, which has been falling sharply for six months.

The sale of fuel to the public throughout the country in May fell 8% year-on-year and added six consecutive periods with negative results, according to a private study.

However, an improvement of 8.5% was verified compared to April, according to the consulting firm Politikon Chaco.
