Colo Colo and Universitario de Perú played a friendly that had to be suspended due to incidents in the stands at 57′ this Wednesday night at the Monumental Stadium in Santiago, Chile. Then, It was learned that a Cacique fan was murdered near the sports venue.

The Colo Colo fan was approached by Universitario fans outside the stadium, who beat him and allegedly even stabbed him. After that situation, he was taken to the Bupa Clinic in La Florida, where he died.

After learning of this situation, Colo Colo issued a statement this Thursday through its social networks in which it regretted the death of the fan, repudiated the violence and made itself available to “to collaborate in whatever is necessary to clarify the acts that occurred inside the stadium in the context of the match.”

Universitario did the same during the early hours of the morning, where it explained that a mother and a son were injured in the attacks inside the stands of the Peruvian team.

What happened inside the stadium

The chaos (inside the stadium) broke out at the start of the second half, when some Colo Colo fans threw fireworks onto the pitch. This situation, of course, caused the referee to stop the match. Once everything calmed down, he resumed the action and the match continued as normal, but only for a few moments…

Ten minutes later, at 57′, Colo Colo fans decided to launch fireworks into the stands where the Universitario fans were. The Peruvian team’s players ran to that area to provide help, as did some doctors.

The referee waited a little and, after seeing that the mess did not stop, decided to suspend the game when the clock showed 63 minutes of play. “There are very few police and people from the Colo Colo bar were passing by to fight with our people. There were many children and many families who came to support us and it was not right that they had a bad time either,” said Rodrigo Ureña. , University flyer.

“We came to score points, it was a preparatory match that also served Colo Colo well because it is more or less what they will face in the Cup. We played against Junior in the group stage and now they have to face the same rival,” added the disappointed footballer.

Until now, neither of the two clubs have expressed themselves regarding what happened, although, of course, they are expected to do so in the next few hours.
