Given the situation generated in the Itaembé Guazú neighborhood due to a significant increase in gas service bills provided by the Gas Nea company, Consumer Defense intervened.
As they were able to verify with documentation, the increase is considerable, which led the Directorate of Internal Trade, dependent on the Ministry of Cooperative Action, to order the immediate rebilling of all affected users.
Contact with the Gas Nea company was unsuccessful, since its offices remained closed on Wednesday. Under the Consumer Protection Law, the Domestic Trade Directorate has ordered the re-invoicing of all users in accordance with article 31 of said law, with a maximum period of five calendar days for its execution.
Until the company carries out the corresponding re-invoicing, users can refrain from paying the bill for the 2024/6 period. Those who have direct debit payment can ask their bank or credit card to suspend said debit, and banks are obliged to accept this request.
This measure is provisional and is subject to the actions that, due to alleged non-compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, are being processed ex officio. This was reported to Misionescuatro by the Consumer Protection Department.
