The National Government has decided to stop the increase in electricity and gas rates that was scheduled for the month of July. This measure seeks to reduce the impact on household income during the winter, providing relief to users during this time of increased energy consumption.

The measure will be applicable only during the month of July and will benefit those users who do not exceed the consumption recorded in June of this year. In this way, people will pay exactly the same for gas and electricity as in June, as long as they maintain their consumption at the same levels.

Most users will only pay the increases in August, due to variations in billing dates.

At the beginning of this month, the National Government had modified the maximum subsidized consumption limits and bonuses on wholesale prices of electricity and natural gas for N2 (low income) and N3 (middle income) users. This new measure is part of these changes, reinforcing support for the most vulnerable and middle-income sectors.

In short, the July rate freeze represents a respite for many families facing rising costs during the winter, ensuring that their utility bill will not exceed that of the previous month if they maintain their constant consumption.
