How much does it cost to eat at the restaurants that the politician has visited? – El Financiero

Claudia Sheinbaum finalizes details about the organization of the cabinet who supports her at the next start of her six-year term, the inauguration is on October 1 and apparently Gerardo Fernández Noroña will not be one of the officials close to the president-elect. Just as he did when he was not elected in the Morena poll heading into the elections, Noroña will surely alleviate his sadness by eating at one of his favorite restaurants.

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador He has always expressed his love for food and has even planned the menu to close the morning press conferences of his presidential term with lunch.

While Claudia Sheinbaum is more reserved about her gastronomic preferences, Noroña is not afraid of being caught in a restaurant and does not use the adjective “austere” to deprive himself of a good meal. The following restaurants are among the places he visits.

What are the Mexican food restaurants that Fernández Noroña has visited like?

Just as he shares photographs and videos to inform about his legislative work, Congressman Fernández Noroña from time to time also shows the places where he likes to eat and some of the dishes.

The Cardinal

This place could not be missing from the list, it is also one of President López Obrador’s favorites. Just in April he published a photograph of a very Mexican breakfast with the word: “I suffer”, on the table there were bolillos, a plate with cream and a cup of coffee.

“Going to Cardenal and not eating a cream with that bolillo is not having gone,” a follower told him. That breakfast entree looks like this on the bill: a cup of coffee costs 48 pesos, while the order of creams costs 76 pesos and the pieces of freshly baked sweet bread, 37 pesos.

Prices vary for the main dishes, for example, the egg omelette with escamoles costs 240 pesos and the Quiroga-style carnitas enchiladas are priced at 180 pesos.

I am not austere and I will continue going to eat wherever I want, “That’s why I work hard,” he wrote in 2010 after he was exposed on social media for eating at El Cardenal.

The Palace Cantina

After that controversial visit to taste typical food, Noroña published that he was in ‘The Palace Cantina’, an area of the Palacio de Hierro Polanco that boasts an experience of “traditional cuisine from Mexican cantinas with a contemporary gourmet touch.”

“Now to make you even more angry…” he wrote in the photograph that shows him eating at that place, where the breakfast menu has several options alone or in a package with fruit, coffee or tea:

  • Eggs with machaca from Monterrey, 205 pesos
  • Omelette Cantina: gratin with pumpkin blossom, mushrooms with garlic butter and three-chili sauce, 150 pesos
  • Enchiladas with black mole: stuffed with chicken with ranch cream, Cotija cheese from Chiapas, toasted sesame seeds and plantain, for 240 pesos

In addition to breakfast and lunch dishes, ‘La Cantina’ has a section of appetizers straight from the comal: quesadillas, tlacoyos, chalupas and gorditas, whose prices range from 115 to 215 pesos.

Commission Tacos

But Noroña has not only appeared in restaurants in Mexico City, she also enjoys a good taco when she travels. In September, during the thank you tour for being chosen as a Morena candidate, Sheinbaum was accompanied by Gerardo and they ate at a very famous taco shop in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas.

In ‘La Commission’ they sell cochito tacos, a traditional dish from that state that consists of pork prepared with ancho chili sauce and spices. The price per taco is 15 pesos.

On that occasion, Sheinbaum, Noroña and the commission that accompanied them on the tour toasted with pozol, a Mesoamerican drink that mixes corn and cocoa to quench thirst. Each gourd costs 20 pesos.

The flower of the Isthmus

Last year, during Morena’s pre-poll tour for the presidential candidacy, Fernández Noroña made a stop in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz and set up his office for a day in a restaurant called ‘La flor del Istmo’.

The restaurant prides itself on having “an exceptional view” of the Coatzacoalcos River and boasts a tradition of almost 70 years serving traditional Veracruz food.

In addition to the common breakfasts with eggs and chilaquiles, on the menu there are seafood cocktails, salads and Jarocho snacks such as chopped with chorizo, chopped with egg and dishes with chinameca meata Veracruz preparation that consists of pork loin with adobo.

The prices of the dishes for lunch in this restaurant do not exceed 150 pesos, for lunch they have some more elaborate ones, such as the chinameca a la tampiqueña, for 185 pesos, or the stuffed fish fillet for 265 pesos.
