NASA hires SpaceX to destroy the International Space Station

One of the most important scientific enclaves in the history of Humanity, The International Space Station (ISS) will crash into the sea, driven by a SpaceX suicide ship. NASA has approved the operation.

It’s not that, suddenly, NASA and SpaceX have turned evil, and have decided to destroy the International Space Station, in true James Bond movie style. It is that the venerable spatial enclave It has been orbiting the Earth for 26 years now, and it is time to retire. This entails its destruction, because it cannot orbit the Earth forever.

NASA has signed a contract with SpaceX worth $843 million, to build a “deorbiter”that is, a space vehicle that will take the International Space Station out of orbit so that it falls into the sea in the year 2030. We already know the plan in detail.

This is how the International Space Station will die

Satellites, space telescopes, and other objects orbiting Earth are destroyed by being allowed to fall into the Earth’s atmosphere. This natural “shield” of our planet carbonizes almost anything that comes near the surface, from meteorites to space debris.

But that would not be the case with the International Space Station. With a size similar to a football field, more than 100 meters long by 80 meters wide, It is so large that the atmosphere will not completely disintegrate itand a large fragment could fall uncontrollably.

The cemetery of the International Space Station will be the Pacific Pole of Inaccessibility, also called Nemo Point. It is the point of the ocean furthest from any land, within a radius of 2,688 kilometers. It is also a very deep area, more than 3,000 meters, and has no marine traffic. You can see it here:

It is the safest place on Earth for a ship measuring more than 100 metres long to crash. But to do it at the right point, the ISS needs to be placed in a certain orbit at a certain speed. And that can only be done with a space tug.

From today we know that This space tug, or deorbiter as NASA calls it, will be built by SpaceXBut it will be owned and operated by NASA.

In 2030, the SpaceX deorbiter, equipped with powerful engines, will dock with the International Space Station, and push it out of orbit.

The tug will place the station into a new, lower orbit, causing it to fall precisely toward Point Nemo.

It is a suicide operation, because this SpaceX deorbiter will crash into the sea next to the ISSThe images are going to be spectacular.

We already know what the destruction of the International Space Station will be like, and SpaceX is going to play a very important role. Elon Musk will be satisfied.

Known how we work in Computerhoy.
