A new partnership between Xbox and Amazon brings big titles to Fire TV, meaning you can play Xbox games without a console.

In July, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to play hundreds of cloud games on select Fire TV devices through the Xbox app, providing console-free access. This includes an extensive library that spans everything from RPGs like Starfield and Fallout 4 to racing games like Forza Horizon 5. The Amazon Fire TV Stick is also capable of running graphics-intensive Xbox games like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.

How to play Xbox games on Amazon Fire TV

You’ll need a Fire TV Stick 4K Max or Fire TV Stick 4K, which starts at $49.99, and the free Xbox app downloaded to your Fire TV device via the Amazon Appstore. You’ll also need a Microsoft account, which means if you’re already an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll get instant access to stream and play hundreds of cloud-enabled titles in the Game Pass Ultimate library. Otherwise, you’ll need to sign up for an Ultimate membership.

From there, the entire library should be available for games with Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, DualSense, or DualShock 4 support. No console is required, and it offers some first-time access to select Xbox games without the high cost of a console. By comparison, even the cheapest Xbox consoles start at $299, compared to the Fire TV’s $49.99 starting cost.

Even if you already have a console, that too A convenient way to play in a different room than where you store your console or take your game while traveling. Since you sign in with your Microsoft account, it will sync your game progress no matter where you go, as long as you’re not signed in to the cloud.
