The Government will postpone the increases in electricity and gas rates in July to contain inflation

The Government decided to delay increases in electricity and gas rates which were scheduled for July. This decision was made to prevent these increases from impacting inflation.

Collective bargaining: the trade union closed a new agreement and the basic salary will rise to $858,200

If these had been applied increaseselectricity and gas bills are said to have risen by between 2% and 3%. If this measure is adopted, it would affect households, businesses and industries.

According to sources from the Ministry of Economy, these measures aim to maintain a disinflation process.

Increase in electricity and gas prices postponed, but fuel prices increase

Instead of raising electricity and gas rates,The Government decided to increase taxes on fuels, such as gasoline and diesel, by 1%.. The measure will come into effect from July 1.

This means that the prices of these fuels will rise, although not as much as if the increases in electricity and gas rates had been applied.

Next week, the price of gasoline and diesel will increase due to the monthly devaluation of the peso against the dollar and the increase in taxes. The price of gasoline will exceed $930 per liter in the City of Buenos Aires.

Meanwhile, the Energy Secretariat reported that the remaining increase in fuel taxes, which represents more than $100 per liter of gasoline and $80 for diesel, will be applied throughout the second half of the year, starting in August.

Affected companies

Companies that supply electricity and gas, such as Transener, Edenor, Edesur, TGS, TGN, Metrogas, Naturgy, Camuzzi and Ecogas, had previously agreed with the Government to make periodic adjustments to their tariffs.

However, this system of adjustments will be re-evaluated taking into account projected future inflation, and for now, it has been decided to postpone these increases.

Subsidy adjustments

The Energy Secretariat, headed by Eduardo Rodríguez Chirillo, had already decided that businesses, industries and high-income users would assume the additional costs of gas during the winter.

At the same time, progress will be made in gradually reducing subsidies for low- and middle-income users. This also applied to electricity rates at the beginning of June.

The Central Bank sold 85 million dollars and the Government of Javier Milei will have a negative balance in June
