The Government made the decision not to increase service rates during the month of July. The measure takes into account seasonality, that is, greater consumption due to winter. The increase in fuel consumption also stops. On the other hand, they deregulated the prices of telecommunications services.

The Government has suspended the increases in gas, electricity and fuel prices announced for the month of July. The measure is established for household consumption next month and, depending on the billing date, in principle most users would pay it in August.

The Energy Secretariat explained that if a user consumed the same amount in July as in the previous month, he or she will pay exactly the same amount. If consumption decreases, the user will pay less.

It should be noted that the June bill includes the increase announced at the time. At the beginning of this month, the national government modified the maximum subsidized consumption limits and the bonuses on wholesale prices of electricity and natural gas for users. N2 (low income) and N3 (middle income) according to the Transition Period established by Decree No. 465/24. Which implied a blow to the economy of the most impoverished sectors.

In the case of Gas rates will not increase nor will July consumption. That is to say, the user will pay exactly the same as in June, as long as their consumption is the same.

Green light for increases in Internet, cell phone and cable rates

The Government is repealing regulations issued between 2020 and 2023 that established price controls for Internet, mobile telephony and subscription television services.

He National Communications Entity (Enacom) announced this Thursday the repeal of a series of resolutions that regulated the prices of telecommunications servicesin line with a recent presidential decree that allows the sector to implement increases with complete freedom.

The measure, published in the official bulletin, annuls regulations that established controls for increases in internet, mobile telephone and television services. Until now, the limit allowed for increases was between 5% and 10% monthly.

With the new provision, telecommunications companies regain the ability to freely set their prices.something that the regulatory body justifies as necessary to “safeguard the rules that allow the development of a competitive market.”

The release of price controls is expected to impact ballots for the month of July.
