Will Amaia Montero return to ‘La Oreja de Van Gogh’?

Amaia Montero could return to the stage. And she could do so with her former group, Van Gogh’s Ear. At the moment, nothing is official, but the artist and the rest of the band members have left the odd message through social networks that could confirm the rumor mill that has exploded in recent hours.

In fact, Telemadrid advanced that Amaia’s return is almost a reality and that he could join his former musical group in the coming weeks. However, neither party has said it officially.

Journalist Isabel Rábago assured during the Madrid public channel program that “we will all be able to enjoy her on stage, especially seeing her well. The entire group supporting her.”

The tracks from the group and from Amaia herself have also helped fans of the successful band get excited about the return. In the latest video filmed, the voice of the former vocalist can be heard accompanying that of the current one, Leire Martínez.

It is worth remembering that Amaia Montero was the vocalist of La Oreja de Van Gogh from the band’s formation in 1996 until her departure in November 2007.

Amaia herself posted an image on her social media in which she paraphrased a phrase from one of her songs, which has also caused the rumours to spread. “Every day I tell myself that there isn’t much time left,” she said.

Amaia Montero, 47 years old, has gone through hard times. The artist had to be admitted to detoxification centers on several occasions due to her alcohol and drug addictions. The vocalist gave an interview months ago explaining the entire path she has had to go through.

“I have been beaten viciously and personally. What I have suffered has been harassment, pure bullying, a massacre,” she said in an interview. In this conversation she also spoke about her physical problems: “In this country, gaining weight is the worst thing you can do. I was away for a while preparing the album and, when I reappeared, everyone started talking about my physical change, my facial transformation. They have fallen on me from all sides“.

In short, it is not yet official that Amaia Montero will be able to return to the historic Spanish pop group, but steps are being taken so that, at least, the artist can get on stage with her former companions.
