The first chapter of the new cycle was titled “A Son for a Son (A Son for a Son).”

After two years, House of the Dragon returned with its long-awaited second season, after the first ended with the dramatic death of Luke (Elliot Grihault)who was devoured along with his dragon by Vhagar, who was ridden by Aemond (Ewan Mitchell).

The first episode, which was titled “A Son for a Son (A son for a son)“, was marked by various moments, especially by Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) desire for revenge against her stepbrother.

However, many expected to see an iconic scene that served as the ending of the chapter and that will mark the beginning, without return, of the so-called Dance of Dragons.

If you have not seen the first episode of the second season of House of the Dragon, we recommend that you do not continue reading.

The return of The Wall

The episode begins with Jacaerys at The Wall, which we see for the first time in the series, talking with Cregan Stark, with whom they seek to create an alliance to recover King’s Landing after Aegon’s usurpation of the throne.

It is in the midst of that conversation that young Velaryon learns of the tragic death of his brother Luke.

Rhaneyra searching for her son’s remains

After learning of her son’s death, Rhaenyra left Dragonstone and went in search of her son’s remains, something that did not go down well with Daemon, for exposing herself to being attacked.

Although at first she was unable to find anything, it was not until some fishermen found the wing of the downed dragon that the queen was finally able to mourn the young heir.

The passionate romance of Alicent and Criston Sole

After the death of her husband Viserys, Alicent began a passionate romance with the Commander of the Royal Guard, Criston Cole, the same one who took Rhaenyra’s virginity.

The mother and son reunion

Jacaerys returns to Dragonstone with news for her mother, which she tells her through tears.

Later, they both hug each other, crying over Luke’s death.

“I love Aemond.”

After returning to Dragonstone, Rhaenyra is clear in demanding that she wants Aemond as revenge for murdering Luke.

The words are heard by Daemon, who manages to infiltrate King’s Landing to fulfill his wife’s wishes and end the prince’s life.

This is how he manages to find a guard and a rat catcher, who infiltrate the Red Fortress.

The death of the heir

The subjects hired by Daemon manage to enter the castle with the aim of killing Daemon, but the surprise appearance of an employee alters the entire situation.

This is how they accidentally arrive at Queen Helaena’s room and under the motto “a son for a son”, they decide to assassinate Aegon’s heir to the Iron Throne, Jaehaerys.

The young woman manages to escape with her daughter from the room and breaks into her mother’s room, who was with Criston Cole. Upon seeing her daughter, she confesses: “They killed the child.”
