The 20 people injured in the metrocable tragedy recorded this Wednesday at the Popular station, in the northeast of Medellín, are recovering satisfactorily and of them, 12 have already been discharged from the healthcare centers to which they were transferred.
This was reported by the manager of the Medellín Metro, Tomás Elejalde, who assured that the other eight people who are still hospitalized They are out of danger and several of them have already received the corresponding surgical interventions.
Among those hospitalized is a minor who had to undergo surgery for a pelvic fracture and another person who required surgery on a leg, both as a result of the fall from the cabin.

It should be noted that the injured were transferred to the León XIII Clinic, the San Vicente Foundation Hospital, Pablo Tobón Uribe Hospital and CES Clinic. All these health centres are still affected by this emergency.
“We continue to accompany, in solidarity, to the families affected by this accident. We are currently making progress in the investigations to establish the causes of this accident,” explained the manager of the Medellín Metro.

Jhon Jairo Londono Arango, 55 years oldwho was heading to work on this cable car when the accident occurred, after the cabin he was traveling in collided with another.
Regarding the investigation of this accident, manager Elejalde reported that several national and international entities will be involved, in addition to the specific participation of Eafit University, since it has two patents in studies related to the operation of overhead cables.
“Before activating the cable line, we will seek international certificates, similar to those used when building the cable line. We want to guarantee transparency to citizens“, Elejalde said.
